The FME TVET initiative is executed in collaboration with the National Board for Technical Education and trainings are carried out at accredited Colleges and vocational centers across the country.

The initiative is divided into two (2) main tracks which are;

  • The Short-Term Certificate (STC) Programme
  • Vocational Education and Innovation (VEI) Programme

The Short Terms certificate (STC) programme is specifically designed for first time trainees, school leavers and persons with no format education who wish to acquire skill within the next six (6) months.

Vocational Education and Innovation (VEI) programme on the other hand runs for twelve (12) months and is most suitable for persons with some level of format training or education. It concentrates on fields such as ICT, Agriculture, Solar Energy, Electrical installation, tailoring, catering and other technical skills.

Latest News on FME TVET Registration 2026

The latest update about the Federal Ministry of Education’s Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) initiative is that the registration portal for registration of a new phase was opened in April 2026 which is the first after the 2025 intake.

Part of things needed for registration this time includes National Identification Number (NIN), Bank Verification Number (BVN), email address and valid phone number etc.

Successful candidates shall be awarded a nationally recognized certificate and also monthly stipend of N22,500. This is expected to ease transportation fare while start-up support shall be available for graduates in certain cohorts.

Requirements to Register for FME TVET Initiative 2026

  • Prospective applicant must be a Nigerian citizen.
  • Should be aged between 18 – 40 years.
  • Must have a valid National Identification Number (NIN) and Bank Verification Number (BVN).

  • Both educated and non-educated persons can apply i.e. holders or non-holders of SSCE, ND, HND or B.Sc. etc.
  • When registering, applicant should select a training centre closest to their current residence.

  • Click apply to create an account
  • Enter your NIN, Name, email address and date of birth.
  • Check your phone for the verification code sent to it.
  • After that, login to the FME TVET portal again to fill the form
  • Input your personal data
  • Cross-check to be sure information entered is correct.
  • Select your address, state origin and local government area
  • Proceed to scan and upload your recent passport photograph and any other document needed
  • Enter your bank details
  • Proof-read your application once again and then submit.
