The Federal University of Technology, Ikot Abasi (FUTIA) was commissioned in June 2021 by the then president of Nigeria, Mohammadu Buhari. The institution is currently located in Ikot Abasi, Akwa Ibom State which part of the country’s South-South region.

Requirements for FUTIA Recruitment 2026/2027

This is divided into general criteria and role specific qualifications. For the general requirements;

• Applicant must be an indigene of Nigeria.
• Should have the current version of the National Identity Card or NIN slip.
• Other identification documents like Driver’s License, Voters card etc. could be accepted.
• Applicant must be at least 20 years old.
• Should be ready to relocated to Akwa Ibom State if necessary.
• Must be a computer literate.
• Should possess NYSC discharge or exemption certificate.

The key qualifications and experience for each role are as follows;

• Professor: Persons eyeing this position must hold a Ph.D. and also have at least 12 years of teaching experience in a tertiary institution. Minimum of 20 publications for Engineering/Applied Sciences in internationally indexed journals is required.
• Associate Professor: Applicant must have a Ph.D. plus 9 years teaching experience in tertiary institutions. 15 publications in either local or international journals.
• Senior Lecturer: Applicant must have a Ph.D. and also ten (10) refereed publications. Registration/membership with relevant professional bodies is key.
• Lecturer I: Applicants for this position must have a Ph.D. and at least four (4) publications, or a Master’s degree with five (5) published articles.
• Lecturer II: Should hold Ph.D. from a recognised university, or a Master’s degree with at least two (2) publications in local or international journal.
• Assistant Lecturer: Candidates applying for this position must have a Bachelor’s degree, Masters and also registration with professional body relevant to his or she discipline.
• Graduate Assistant: Applicant must have a first Class or Second-Class Upper degree from an accredited university
• Academic Librarian: Candidate should hold a Master’s degree in Library and Information Science and be a member of relevant professional body.
• Technologist: Applicant must hold a B.Sc. or HND in a relevant discipline. Professional membership and registration are an added advantage

Non-Academic Positions

• Administrative Officer II: B.Sc. or equivalent qualification.
• Accountant I: Applicant must hold either a B.Sc. or HND in Accountancy plus professional membership with ICAN, ANAN, or ACMA
• Clerical Officer: Applicants of this role should have SSCE with at least 5 credits, including English Language.
• Nursing Officer: A valid NRN or NRM certificate, practice license and a minimum of one (1) year post-registration is required.
• Pharmacist: Applicant interested must possess a B.Pharm. or B.Sc. (Pharm.) with full PCN registration
• Chief Security Officer: This post is most suitable for candidates who must have served as a Superintendent of Police or equivalent with an overall 18 years’ experience.
• Senior Driver: Applicant must possess the Trade Test 1, 2, and 3 certificates. A minimum of eight (8) years of driving experience is required.
• Procurement/Store Officers, Quantity Surveyors, Town Planners, Hostel Staff: Applicants going for any of these positions must possess, ND, HND, B.Sc. or equivalent qualifications.
