Requirements for NPF Recruitment 2026/2027

Below are the mandatory eligibility requirements every prospective applicant of the Nigeria Police Force recruitment 2026 must adhere. Inability to adhere results to disqualification.

Nationality: The Police Service Commission (PSC) strictly receives applications from Nigerian citizen by birth / naturalization.

Identity Proof: Saying you’re from Nigeria isn’t enough, the Commission require all applicant to provide a valid National Identity Card , Driver’s License or Voter’s card etc.

Age: Candidates aiming for general duty must not exceed 18 – 25 years while specialist is maximum of 28 years.

Height: Male applicants are expected to be 1.67 meters i.e. 5.6 inches while female applicants must be 1.64 meters i.e. 5.4.5.

Educational Qualification

  • Both general and specialist prospects are expected to have at least five (5) credits in O’Level results (WASSCE/GCE/NECO/NABTEB), including English Language and Mathematics, obtained in not more than two (2) sittings.
  • For specialist applicants, additional trade test certificate or professional qualifications is required.

Character & Fitness

  • All applicant of the 2026 NPF recruitment must be physical and mentally sound. Female candidates that are pregnant may not apply.
  • Applicant must not have a publicly seen tattoo mark.
  • Prosecutive applicants that have faced criminal persecution may not apply.
  • Due to the nature of training, persons with disabilities (PWDs) are currently not eligible to apply.

Guarantor: You shall provide at least two (2) referees by completing the NPF guarantors form.

Vital Documents for Application

As part of the application process, candidates shall upload the following documents.

  • National Identification Number (NIN) / NIMC slip
  • O’Level result i.e. WAEC, NECO, or NABTEB.
  • First School Leaving Certificate (FSLC)
  • Birth certificate or valid age declaration
  • Certificate of Origin
  • Recent passport photographs
  • Trade test certificates and professional qualifications (if any)

During the NPF physical screening, you will present both the originals and photocopies of these documents as such avoid providing false documentation.

NPF Recruitment Portal 2026: Steps to Submit Application

The official recruitment portal for the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) recruitment is npfapplication.psc.gov.ng. Applications submitted outside this platform won’t be recognized.

Thus, follow the steps below to apply.

  1. Visit npfapplication.psc.gov.ng using any browser of your choice.
  2. Click register to create an account using your NIN, phone number and a valid email address.
  3. Select your eligible category and fill the online application form.
  4. Clearly scan and upload the required documents / certificates.  
  5. Acknowledge the terms and conditions
  6. Proofread your application and submit
  7. After, print out the guarantor’s form and submission slip.

Is NPF Recruitment 2026/2027 Still Ongoing?

Here the direct update you should note concerning the Nigeria Police Force recruitment status.

The Police Service Commission (PSC) started opened application portal for NPF Recruitment 2026 exercise on 15th December 2025. The target is for 50,000 constable officers covering both general and specialist cadre.

Initially the recruitment was scheduled to close on January 25, 2026 but was late extended to 8th February 2026 to accumulate enough applications.

The physical screening was then scheduled for 9th March till 18th April 2026. Only candidates shortlisted by NPF are permitted to report for screening. Also, the screening will hold in all 36 states of the federal from 28th to 30th April 2026.

Mistakes to Avoid in the 2026 NPF Application Process

In competitive recruitment exercise like the Nigeria Police Force, little things really matter, as such ensure you avoid the following.

  • Submitting application on a third-party website instead of the official PSC application portal.
  • Negotiating or paying money to gain favouritism in the recruitment.
  • Uploading blurring or incorrect documents / certificates.
  • Ensure your name, date of birth and other key information match what is on NIN database.
  • Do not apply after the deadline.
  • Immediately after application, proceed to fill the guarantor’s form. Don’t wait until you’re shortlisted as much time may not be given.

Did you miss the 2026 Application window?

If you did not submit application between 15th December and 8th February 2026 then you have to wait for the next cycle which will be announced soon. As of today, the PSC’s official website shows no new recruitment announcement beyond the ongoing 50,000 constables exercise.
