Police Recruitment Latest News Today on Shortlist 2026
The latest news today on Nigeria Police Force recruitment shortlist is that the final list containing names of candidates who passed the written/aptitude examination have not ye been officially published yet.
This is the NPF written examination that was held for both General Duty and Specialist applicant from 28th to 30th April 2026 across all 36 stats of Nigeria including FCT.
Currently, the Police Service Commission have warned applicants against fake information as the post-exam shortlist, medical screening date or final list have not yet been disclosed. Remember, this shall be published online at the official recruitment page https://npfapplication.psc.gov.ng.
In summary, candidates who wrote the NPF written examination should be patient and conclusions are being made and shall be communicated in due course.
Is the Nigeria Police Recruitment Shortlist Out?

Currently, this is one of the key updates needed by NPF applicants. The fact is that as of 28th June 2026 the official date for NPF medical screening has not been confirmed by the Police Service Commission.

General Requirements to Join Nigerian Police Force
It is still important to have a base understanding of the key requirements to join the Nigerian Police force as most of these documents shall be needed during screening.
General Duty Constables
- Applicant must be a Nigerian citizen by birth
- Should be within 18 and 25 years
- Must have at least 5 credits in WAEC, NECO, or equivalent and it should include English Language and Mathematics etc.
- Minimum height for male applicants is 1.67 metres and 1.64 for female.
- Applicant must be physically, mentally, and psychologically fit
- Must have a criminal free background.
- Must possess a valid National Identification Number (NIN)
Specialist Constables
- Applicant for specialist role should be between 18 and 28 years
- Minimum of four relevant credits
- Recognized trade test certificate or relevant professional qualification, with at least three years of practical experience in the relevant field.
Nigerian Police Recruitment Process
The recruitment process for the 50,000 Constable recruitment exercise are as follows:
- Application stage: This is the initial stage where interested candidates submitted application via PSC portal from 15th December 2025 till 8th February 2026.
- Physical and credentials screening: This is the next stage where the Nigeria Police Commission shortlists successful applicants for physical fitness ahead of the written exam.
- Written/Computer-Based Aptitude Test: The aptitude test was held nationwide from 28th to 30th April 2026 for both General Duty and Specialist applicants.
- Medical screening: This is next expected next stage but currently the date has not yet been officially confirmed.
